World Challenge - China 2013
As some of you may be aware, fundraising for our World Challenge expedition to China in 2013 has already begun!
On the 20th February, a cake sale was held in school to raise money, with all cakes being made by the World Challenge team. In just under 20 minutes, we were hugely successful and managed to raise almost £40, even though each cake was only 20p. We have another large cake sale coming up on the 20th April, where we will again be selling various types of cakes to students and staff.
Conveniently, this is also the date of our next meeting with the World Challenge representative. It's a mammoth 3 hour meeting, but we'll be deciding where we visit in China and our rough itinerary for the expedition.
The reality of the expedition is starting to set in now, we're all very excited! Our shirts have arrived, applications been processed and many team members have also begun raising money individually. We're looking ahead to the future and planning bigger events. On the 4th April during half term, most of our team will spend the whole night outside in the cold, during the school's annual 'sleep rough'. We're all being sponsored for this too, raising more towards our end total. One of our team, Amy, has also signed up to take part in an abseil to raise money, which we wish her the best of luck with! As well as this, a wine and wisdom will be held in school on the 27th April at 7pm in the Millennium Hall. Please contact [email protected] for more details or to book a table.
On behalf of the whole World Challenge team, we thank you all for your support so far and look forward to many more events to come!
