Phillips continues to shine on the dancing circuit!
#TeamStanhope student, Harrette Phillips, competes regularly on the Sunday Open Dancing Circuit. She travels the country for both competitions and training, often doing this independently on the train! Some of her most recent successes include:
- British National Solo Latin Championship Finalist – Nov 2023
- East Yorkshire Titles Latin Champion – Dec 2023
- City of Birmingham Latin Champion – Dec 2023
- WDC European Solo Championship – Latin and Ballroom Semi Finalist (Top 12 in Europe) – Mar 2024
- Blackpool Junior Festival Solo Championships (International) – Latin and Ballroom Semi Finalist (Top 12 in Europe) – Apr 2024
- Manchester Globe – U18, U21, U25 Ballroom Champion, U16, U18 Latin Champion, U25 Latin Vice Champion, U21 Latin 3rd Place, U16 Ballroom 4th Place - Apr 2024
Harriette was also contacted in mid-March by a dance school principal based in Wales; they have a Latin Formation Team and, due to unforeseen circumstances, were left with a team member down with only three weeks left until the British Championships. Loren asked Harriette to join the team (of 16 dancers) and learn the 7-minute routine they had been learning for almost a year! This meant travelling to South Wales once a week, too.
She travelled to Blackpool with the team in early April and blew everyone away. Their team placed 5th at the British Championships and then 4th at the UK titles later on in May.
She is incredibly committed to her dancing; she combines hours of revision with hours of dance training, and her parents said they 'are incredibly proud of how she has found the perfect balance'. Additionally, earlier in the year, Harriette was lucky enough to receive a sponsorship from an incredible dressmaker, which is a testament to all her hard work. Harriette plans to continue dancing in the adult youth category once she turns 16. Keep up the good work, Harriette! |
