Sixth Form Stayawake is a success again!
This year for our annual StayAwake, our Sixth Form students chose a to support two charities in our local community. We have continued to support Demelza House in Sittinbourne, who provide end of life care for children and young people and this year we are also fund raising for the Swale Foodbank, who do wonderful work in helping local people in crisis.
On Friday the 3rd February, 140 Students and 24 staff took part in an all-night 'StayAwake'. This means staying in school from 7pm until 7am the next morning, to raise funds for our chosen charities. During the night, we ran a variety of activities to keep the students awake: Mrs Crawford again ran a very successful ‘Bake-Off’ competition demonstrating a wide variety of creative bakes – Paul Hollywood watch out; Mr Meades and Mr Firth showed tremendous endurance refereeing the 5-a-side football match; Mr Rayfield and Ms Taylor dazzled us with their wonderful artistic flair by applying glitter to the majority of the Sixth Form faces throughout the night as well as having a Valentine’s Card making stool. Other activities included basketball, cricket, volleyball, gaming, karaoke, silent disco and a quiz, to name just a few. The night was a huge success and we were so proud of our Sixth Form students.
All students have been wonderful in raising funds far beyond our expectations, with a total of over £6400, which is no mean feat in the current climate.
Thank you to everyone that contributed towards such a successful event; we look forward to supporting our local community again next year.
