As part of the Sixth Form Enrichment Program, Year 12 students got the opportunity to learn more about those living with Dementia from Dementia Champions. Dementia Champions are volunteers from the Alzheimer’s Society who are part of the campaign to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition. The Champions encourage others to learn about dementia, even if it is just a little. Champions run Information Sessions in their community and inspire others to help those living with dementia live well. The most recent session took place on Thursday 19th April, run by Dementia Champions Becca Fuszard and Sam Corse. The session was lively and engaging with all students interacting with the champions. They discussed the facts about people living with Dementia, various scenarios and examples of what they could do in everyday life to assist those living with Dementia. They were so inspired, some students are considering becoming Dementia Champions! Molly said “ It was so interesting and I would now like to become a Dementia Champion and deliver these sessions to the Lower School in the future”.
