Year 10 Stanhope student, Cameron, took part in the British Schools Modern Biathlon at Crystal Palace on the 26th March and was delighted to come a very respectable 11th place overall in the Under 16 category. Competing against 26 other athletes from South East schools, Cameron swam for 200m followed by a 1600m run - no mean feat considering he is suffering from a nasty knee injury for which he is waiting for physiotherapy to help it mend. Cameron said " It was a really windy day which made running more of a challenge but it was a great day and I was happy with my time". The Biathlon season has now finished until next October but Cameron, a very keen sportsman, has plenty to keep him occupied as he is now training for the Hever Castle Triathlon which takes place in September. Not content with just Biathlons and Triathlons Cameron was recently invited to join the English Talent Programme for Pentathlon GB. So he is now on Bronze level and has learned to shoot to add to his growing skills.
