GCSE Results Day!
As with those collecting results on Tuesday, this year’s GCSE cohort have had what can only be described as a hugely unsettling and complicated 18 months, we are very proud of the resilience and hard work they have demonstrated. Head of School, Susie Burden, was keen to emphasise that the grades achieved by the students are well deserved and that the system by which they have been calculated is both fair and rigorous. “It should be understood that these results have been calculated following a process that has included the information held on students and a robust moderation exercise carried out by teachers, heads of department and senior staff and then by the examination boards. Students should therefore be immensely proud of their achievements.”
Although it is difficult to single out individuals for the excellence of their results, as grades alone cannot reflect the progress made by so many, the following are amongst those who have achieved outstandingly well this year:
- Madeleine Lewis (7x grade 9s, 1 grade 8 and 1 grade 7)
- Lillian Boden-Thorne (1 grade 9, 4 grade 8s and 4 grade 7s)
- Rhys Medwyn (3 grade 9s, 1 grade 8, 5 grade 7s)
- Ellie Scott (2 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s, 2 grade 6s)
- Lauren Rushworth (4 grade 8s, 4 grade 7s, 1 grade 6)
- Zoe Francis (2 grade 8s, 5 grade 7s, 2 grade 6s)
- Keira Hotham (4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7, 1 grade 6, 1 grade 5)
- Harry Shave (3 grade 8s, 4 grade 7s, 2 grade 6s)
- Jessica Beaney (2 grade 9s, 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7s, 1 grade 6, 2 grade 5s)
Kyle Fagg, 16, and Rohan Verma, 16, said “ We’ve actually enjoyed the last year and actually found it less stressful. We are both pleased with our results and feel that they reflect our ability well”
Twins, Ellie and Beth Stuart disagreed “We’ve found working from home much harder but we have had so much support from our teachers we are really happy with our results”. Ellie continued “Mr Bishop, my History teacher has been amazing and still made learning fun”. Beth said “ I have to mention Mr Hadler, Maths, and Mr Rayfield, Art, as they were very inspirational and I’d like to thank them too”
Sarah Palmer, Spokesperson for Fulston said “Once again, we are immensely proud of the success of our young people and for all they have done to get through an incredibly turbulent year and we wish them all well for the future.”
