This week Fulston Manor School is playing host to students and staff from Germany, Romania and Greece and welcomed them to the school together with local VIPs. This week sees the grand finale of a three year project which has looked at searching for the perfect formula for biodegradable food packaging. Mayor of Swale Cllr Koffee-Williams, Sittingbourne and Sheppey MP Gordon Henderson and Deputy Leader of Swale Borough Council Cllr Gerry Lewin were present to hear the welcome speeches made by Mr Brookes and by the Erasmus+ project co-ordinator, Mr Matthews. Trips have been organised to Chatham Historic Dockyard, Dover Castle, Canterbury Cathedral and to London where the students will interview members of the public on their views of the use of plastics in packaging. Mr Brookes said “It is wonderful to welcome our European friends to Fulston Manor. The Erasmus+ project is so important when considering the impact plastics are having on the environment throughout the world. My generation have messed this up – this generation is left to pick up the pieces”. There will be a closing ceremony at the University of Kent in Canterbury on Friday afternoon with speeches by people from Industry and University staff.
