Where Are They Now? Dan Snook

When students finally leave school after GCSE’s or GCE’s staff always wonder in which direction their lives took. Did they complete their Apprenticeship? Did they get the First or a 2:1 at University? Most importantly - Are they living the dream?

It was wonderful to hear that Daniel Snook, who left Fulston in 2014, is living his dream.

From the age of 11 and after joining Sea Cadets, Dan wanted his career to be at sea and yearned to work on super yachts. After completing his A Levels at Fulston he went on to do his 3 year UKSA (United Kingdom Sailing Academy) cadetship which involved studying whilst at sea and at Falmouth University for his Operational Yacht Science Degree. Dan graduated in October 2017 with the presentation being held at Truro Cathedral which was an incredibly proud moment for Mum, Julie. Julie said “ School was never easy for Daniel but he used to go to after school classes on the subjects he struggled with and catch the late bus home. He is absolute proof that if you knuckle down, work hard and dream big, you can achieve”.

Dan is, at the moment, is in Antigua sailing around the Caribbean on a yacht called Palmira where he has been since Christmas and will be returning to Palma, Majorca in May. Dan, never one to want to be the centre of attention, was very relaxed about his successful career “I’m loving life. I get to sail around the world on super yachts and it’s been a great few years since I left Fulston”. I think most people would be rather happy that all of that hard work has paid off and Dan is no exception.

Dan, you are a credit to the school.
