Fulston Manor School A Fulston Manor Academies Trust School

Parent Governor 2024

Mr Chris Blundell

Nominee Personal Statement:

I am a father of three children, with my eldest son recently starting in year seven at Fulston. As a parent of a Year 7 student, I've been impressed by the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education. I'm eager to contribute my skills and experience to further enhance the school's reputation as an inclusive and welcoming school.

I am a chartered public finance accountant and I have extensive experience throughout my twenty-year professional career in analytical, senior managerial and leadership roles in the private and public sector. I currently hold the role of Director of Corporate Services for a district council, with budgets of more than £200m and over 500 staff, where I have overall responsibility of various governance associated services such as health and safety, HR, legal, finance and audit.

I am also a currently governor for East Kent College and I have previously held school governor roles for primary schools. I am passionate about education and providing the opportunity for all young people to achieve their full potential and lead happy and fulfilling lives.
I believe my experience and skill sets will provide a benefit to the board of governors and that I can provide a valuable contribution to the board's role of providing strategic and financial oversight and ultimately to help the school achieve its mission to make Fulston Manor School a safe, welcoming and friendly place to learn. If I am successful in being appointed, I look forward to representing and serving you all.

Mr Cardo Plummer

Nominee Personal Statement:

I am pleased to apply for the role of Parent Governor at Fulton Manor School, where my son attends Sixth Form. I am eager to take on this new role as a way to give back to the community while also gaining new skills. I see this as a valuable opportunity to contribute my life experiences and insights, which I believe would be an asset to the board.

Growing up in Jamaica, I experienced firsthand the transformative power of a strong education and the values instilled by a supportive community. These foundations have shaped me into a person of integrity, with a commitment to fairness and a drive to succeed. This upbringing has instilled in me a strong sense of identity and the belief that, regardless of circumstances, individuals can achieve greatness.

Before becoming a father, I proudly served as a soldier in the British Army for six years. During my service, I developed invaluable qualities such as discipline and teamwork, all while working toward the shared mission of protecting and serving the British nation.

As a father of two boys, I am deeply committed to supporting the growth and success of the younger generation. I actively demonstrate this commitment in my role as a talent development coach with Impact FC, a grassroots football team, where I work closely with young athletes to help them grow both on and off the field. Additionally, as a qualified football referee, I engage with youth sports most weekends, fostering a sense of fair play, discipline, and teamwork among young players.

I believe my experience in nurturing talent and promoting positive values would make me a valuable addition to the role of Parent Governor. I am dedicated to helping create an environment where all students can thrive, and I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm, integrity, and unique perspective to the board. If given the opportunity, I am confident I would be a strong asset to the team.
