Sixth form staff and students ‘stay awake’ with record-breaking success!

On Friday, 2nd February, 180 Students and 20 staff took part in our annual all-night 'Stayawake'. A long-standing tradition at Fulston which sees dedicated staff and students staying in school from 7pm until 7am the next morning, to raise funds for our chosen charities. This year our sixth form students chose to support two local charities - Demelza House in Sittingbourne, who provide end-of-life care for children and young people, and Ellie’s Angels, who do wonderful work in helping support young adults with their mental health.

Throughout the night, we ran a variety of engaging and motivational activities to keep the students (and staff) awake. Mr Bendon ran a very successful ‘Bake-Off’ competition, creating some very yummy pizzas – watch out Paul Hollywood; Mr Meades showed tremendous endurance refereeing a very competitive 5-a-side football match; Mr Rayfield and Ms Taylor dazzled us with their wonderful artistic flair at the face glitter station as well as making Valentines Day cards and Mrs Smillie let the students sing at the top of their lungs with her legendary Smillieoke sessions. Other activities included Basketball, Benchball, gaming, Table Tennis and dancing, with the evening coming to an end with a quiz and some well-earned celebrations.

The night was a huge success, and we are so proud of everybody who took part. All students have been wonderful in raising funds far beyond our expectations, with a record-breaking total of over £9000, which will go such a long way in supporting our local charities.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards such a successful event; we look forward to supporting our local community again next year.
