Out of This World Trip For GCSE Students

Mr Morris and Mrs Hewitt recently took seven GCSE Astronomy students on a trip to the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

The group were able to spend time looking around the museum and see the beautiful views from the Octagon Room where many observations were first held. The students also had the opportunity to be taught Kepler’s Law of Motion by a professional Astronomer, debate the terminology used to describe people who go to space and, the most anticipated by the very excited Mr Morris and Mrs Hewitt, the visit to the Planetarium, which thankfully, did not disappoint!

The highlight of the day was unsurprisingly the Planetarium show, but the staff also very much enjoyed Evie and Jake debating whether or not people who pay for a flight to space should be called astronauts or space tourists. Evie was very animated with her debating, but Jake gave her a run for her money with some very persuasive points.

The day was a huge success, and we look forward to the next visit.
